FORMULATE PERSONALIZED HAIR CARE

Alright ladies! I finally have my review up for my Formulate personalized shampoo and conditioner. Before I get into it, I will say that I was using Function of Beauty personalized shampoo and conditioner. I have used that for a few years, without changing it up. Formulate asked me to try their product out, which at first I was hesitant because I was happy with what I was currently using. They told me I could compare the two, so obviously I was intrigued.

Now let’s dive in! We will start with the hair survey. All personalized hair care systems do some sort of quiz. This helps them get to know your hair. Formulate asks questions such as your hair texture, length, if it’s colored, or graying etc. While filling out this survey, I realized it was more detailed than the Function of Beauty one. Formulate also asked for my zip code, which projects the humidity for the next few months, which I thought was really cool because humidity can really change ones hair. After you fill out the hair survey and they have gotten to know your hair, it asks you what 5 goals you have for you hair. My goals are prevent hair thinning because I have always had thin air and post part baby hairs are the worst! I also included color protect since I plan to lighten my hair more, glossy hair, thermal protect (this girl uses a curling wand often!), and prevent split ends. Then you chose a scent and the strength of your scent. I chose Tidal, which is a beachy scent and a strong-smelling scent because I love my scent to linger on my hair.

It took a few weeks for my formula to arrive, but when it did, I couldn’t wait to wash my hair to try it out. As I stated before, I was happy with my Function of Beauty, but wanted to see what this was all about. The packaging it simple, yet elegant. Love the black and white, so chic! The directions for my formula were also detailed and specific; four pumps for shampoo lathered in hands first, four pumps for conditioner to the ends. The shampoo lathered up nicely and the smell was amazing! My hair felt extremely clean after the shampoo. The conditioner also made my hair silky smooth.  I alway let my hair air dry, so once it was dried, I noticed my hair had way more volume than it usually does. I have thin and stick straight hair so volume  is something my hair lacks. That’s one of the reasons I will use a curling wand because it gives me volume. But after letting my hair air dry, it was super straight but didn’t look as thin as it usually does, which is awesome! During the week I usually don’t curl my hair so having it air dry and look decent is a major plus for me. One thing I notice is that my hair gets oily a little faster than usual, but I can update my formula for Formulate because they do say it may take a few times to get it just right.

Overall, I am happy with this shampoo and conditioner! As of right now I will switch off between both Formulate and Function of Beauty. Since the beginning of March I have only used Formulate so in a few months I might switch back for a bit just to change it up for my hair (I hear that is a good thing to do since your hair can get used to a certain one after while). I also still have a ton of Function of Beauty and I do not want to waste it. In the end I think Formulate is a wonderful personalized product to try (highly recommend it!).
