Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but this week was extra busy for me. I have lots of things planned for this weekend including a quick trip to Disneyland with my sister! You can follow me and my adventures at Disneyland on  my instagram, @cassiecottura. Today I wanted to do a post about what I like to make for my dog, Jax. I know it’s not stylish or glamorous and not everyone has a dog, but this dog means the world to me. Jax is 3 years old and he is a pit mix. We think he is mixed with Pointer. We don’t know because my boyfriend, Chris, took him in after someone dumped him when he was 3 months old. He is also the first dog I have ever had, so he will forever hold a special place in my heart! He is my little man and I love to spoil him! I found this recipe on Pinterest and it looked easy enough to try. I like to make him things when I can, so I decided to give it a try. It is super easy and he absolutely loves it. We like to mix it in to his kibble and he just gobbles this stuff up. I made him some this week since he had to go to the vet, which scares him. I think he really gets stressed out from it so I thought he was very deserving of some doggie meatloaf.

Ingredients:

4-5 eggs (2-3 hard boiled, 2 raw)

1 lb of ground meat (I do turkey or bison)

1/2 cup of frozen green beans

1/2 cup of frozen peas (can use carrots as well)

1/2 cup of oats

First, you hard boil two or three eggs and preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit . While those are cooking, you can add the ground meat and frozen veggies into a bowl.

Mix them until they are combined.

Next, crack two eggs into the bowl and add your oats.

Mix them altogether to make sure it is combined. Then you spray a loaf pan, so it doesn’t stick. Start placing the meat loaf in. Use about half of the mixture. Then peel your hard boiled eggs and place on top of half of the mixture in the pan.

Place the remaining mixture over the hard boiled eggs. Make sure the eggs are completely covered.

Place into the oven for at least 45 minutes. Sometimes I leave it in a little longer. I go based on how it looks. Once it is done and cooled off, I scoop it into a container and store it in the fridge for a week. When I add it to his kibble, I mash it into small pieces and mix in his kibble.

This recipe can also be done for cats! Let me know if any of you dog or cat owners try it out. Jax seriously loves it and seems happy after eating it. I feel like I can see a difference in his appearance as well.
