This week’s Beauty Babble is all about the steps to take for better looking makeup, as well as long lasting makeup. Before applying makeup it’s important to prep and prime your skin. First step, is to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. It’s not a primer, but equally important. You want your skin to be well hydrated before applying any type of makeup. I recently tried this Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizer as a sample and was instantly hooked. It helps my skin stay hydrated all day long, but does not make my skin oily. I will use this moisturizer in the morning before applying makeup and then again at night when I have cleansed my face. After apply moisturizing cream, I apply Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance. This step is crucial! Without some type of foundation primer, your foundation will not go on smoothly and you will end up spending more time trying to blend it in to your skin. The primer helps create the perfect canvas for your foundation. The Radiance one also adds a beautiful glow to your skin. On days when I don’t wear much makeup this helps my skin have a dewy glow. Next is this Boscia White Charcoal makeup setting spray. You can spray this on before and after you have applied makeup or you can choose either before or after. One of my best friends recommended this to me and I love it. When I apply my makeup, I want it to last and look fresh all day long. This spray does just that! Just make sure to shake it well before spraying! Lastly, it’s important to prime your lips as well! I feel like this step is often forgotten or looked over. Too Faced Lip Insurance helps lip colors last longer and fade less. It also has vitamin E to help lock in moisture. That’s very important when using matte lip colors. Nobody wants dry lips! All of these steps are important for applying a flawless face of makeup. What makeup primers can’t you live without?
